Up from 23.01 cr in 2024. Foreign visits slipped to 19.45 lakh from 20.72 lakh, a smaller fall than India’s overall. Foreign visits by year:
More direct bookings for Jodhpur’s heritage hotels, havelis and homestays
Every OTA booking hands over a large commission. A direct booking costs you a WhatsApp reply.
More travellers than ever. Most of them still book through someone else.
Rajasthan set new visitor records in 2024 and 2025, Jodhpur crossed 38 lakh visits, and a bigger airport terminal opened in July. The question for an independent property is how many of those guests reach you directly.
About 37 lakh domestic and 1.13 lakh foreign, against roughly 10 lakh in 2019. The tourism department says visitors now stay 2–3 nights instead of one.
Third in Rajasthan for foreign visitors in the first half of 2026; Jaipur was first. These guests compare properties online, often in French or German.
Up 4.7%. A new ₹480 cr terminal opened on 4 July 2026 with capacity for 20 lakh passengers a year.
Against a standard 15% at Booking.com, per the complaint that led the CCI to fine MMT-Go ₹223 cr in 2022. Current guides put MakeMyTrip at 18–22%.
Global figure. OTA bookings were cancelled 21.8% of the time against 10.6% for direct bookings, and hotel websites earned the highest value per booking.
Up from 5 rooms, with up to 24 beds, temporary registration within 7 working days and Silver and Gold grades. How many homestays are registered in Jodhpur: not published.

Who stays where in Jodhpur, and what they type into Google
The guest who wants a palace suite is not the guest who wants a budget homestay near the clock tower. Each needs a different page, a different photo and a different search phrase.

Many Jodhpur properties have a site that loads slowly, sits below MakeMyTrip and mirror pages for its own name, and sends enquiries to a phone nobody checks after 9 pm. Send us your address and we’ll check what a guest in Delhi or Lyon actually sees.

Straight answers
How can a Jodhpur hotel get more direct bookings and fewer OTA bookings?
You won’t leave OTAs completely. They bring guests who would never find you otherwise. What you can do is make sure people who already know your name book direct: your own site ranks first for your name, Google shows a free booking link to it, the room pages show real prices, and someone replies on WhatsApp within the hour. A small direct-booking perk, like airport pick-up, does the rest.
How much commission do hotels pay MakeMyTrip and Booking.com?
It depends on the contract. In the case that led the Competition Commission of India to fine MakeMyTrip-Goibibo in 2022, the hoteliers’ federation said standalone hotels paid 22–40%, against about 15% at Booking.com. Current guides put MakeMyTrip at around 18–22% before extra promotion fees. Check your own invoices, because that is the number that matters.
What is SEO for hotels, and how long does it take?
It is search optimisation built around how travellers look for stays: by area (“near the clock tower”), by type (“haveli”, “homestay”), by occasion (“wedding venue with rooms”) and by your own name. Expect your own name to rank first within weeks once mirror sites and profiles are cleaned up. Wider phrases usually take 3–6 months.
Do I need to register my homestay before advertising it online?
Under Rajasthan’s Homestay (Paying Guest House) Scheme 2026, homes with up to 8 rooms and 24 beds register with the tourism department. Temporary registration is issued within 7 working days. Registering is your responsibility; we add the registration number and grade to your site once you have it.
What are AEO and GEO, and do they matter for a small hotel?
AEO (answer engine optimisation) makes your pages easy for Google’s AI Overviews and voice assistants to quote. GEO (generative engine optimisation) helps ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity mention your property when someone asks for a quiet haveli or a rooftop with a fort view. Both depend on clear facts and consistent details across your site, Google profile and review sites.
How does the hotel CRM handle wedding room blocks?
Each wedding gets its own record: the room block, the rooming list as it changes, advance payments due and event timings. The family’s coordinator can be sent updates on WhatsApp, and your team sees which rooms are still unassigned.
I already have a website. Do I need a new one?
Not always. Start with the free audit. Often, fixing speed, the Google profile, room pages and the booking form is enough. If the site can’t sensibly be fixed, we’ll say so and quote a rebuild.
